Patience Vs. Evil

Today (17th November 2006), I attended my Organizing Behavior (BOB2027) class at 1630 as usual. But, the class started off unusually. First, there was some sort of electricity disruption before the class start. It was all dark inside the class but I and my fellow friends were still sitting inside just to enjoy the air-cond. Just right after the lecturer Miss OPT entered the class everything seemed back to normal. How would that happened? Basically, it just meant that our hope of canceling or postponing the class was vanished. Too bad too bad!!

Anyway, things changed a bit better when the lecturer said that she will show us one movie in this class. She said it was a movie based on Helen Keller true story. Thanks god! That time, I was like though we have class but at least I can try to take a nap during the screening. LOL! However, the movie did not start as boring as I expected. Oppositely, it was quite interesting…..

It was a story featuring Helen Keller’s life during her childhood and how she started to learn her first word in her blind and deaf world. Helen was like a small devil with evil attitude during her childhood. She was bad tempered and behaved in vulgar manner. She was too protected and pampered by her mother. Soon, before they give up and sent her to special care home, a lady who brought miracle to Helen’s life appeared. She started to teach Helen the most important thing in life – “language”. With her patience and love, she helped Helen to gain her life back! Now, she could “see” and “hear” even she was blind and deaf.

Few attractions in this (Disney production) movie:

  1. Very cute Helen Keller cast by Hallie Kate Eisenberg

  1. Interesting fight between Helen and her teacher, Anne Sullivan. (especially the one they slapped each others during dinning time)
  2. Super detail subtitle. (this movie was meant for those who are deaf as well, thus everything were in subtitle including when the frogs are cracking, birds are chirping, etc)
  3. Funny Helen’s brother, James cast by Lucas Black! Such a sarcastic man and full with jokes.
  4. Pretty mom of Helen, Kate cast by Kate Greenhouse.
In the later life, Helen came out with a famous quote:

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt within the heart.”

Glad to have chance watching this inspiring movie~
